Baby Shower

A couple weeks ago, Julie and Julisa threw a baby shower for Kryssi.  I wasn’t there (except at the end for some pie, which was great) but Kryssi had a great time and was very thankful to both Julie and Julisa for the time and effort put into the shower.  We got a bunch of nice clothes, as well as a lot of blankets.

Baby Shower cake

This was the “cake” they had at the shower.  Julie made it out of a bunch of different baby items.  Most of it was made up of diapers, but there are wash clothes, a pacifier, bottles, toys, etc. that make up the rest of it.

The presents at the baby shower.

Here are the various clothes that we got.  Kryssi was happy to get some nice girl baby clothes.

Blankets from the baby shower.

The blankets that Kryssi got.  There is a lot of them, and we got a lot with Lucas, but they are all nice.  I believe most, if not all of them are homemade, or handmade, however you want to look at it.

School’s Back In Session

Well summer has come to a close and I am back in school.  I was excited to start again, as I’m anxious to learn more and grow my skill set.  This will be my third semester and after this one I’ll have one more to go.  It wasn’t looking like it would be a very hard year but I ended up adding a class that normally would be taken next semester.  It’s called Supervised Work Experience and it is basically just an internship.  One came up and my teacher gave me the option to do it so I decided I might as well.  So that makes my schedule a lot busier!

Kryssi is getting closer to the end of the pregnancy, which is really hard to believe.  Time has just flown by!  Her due date is Oct. 19th, so not many more weeks left to go.  So far everything has been going great, no real issues.  She’s had problems with heart burn lately, so hopefully we can find something that will help with that.

Lucas is growing and changing every day it seems.  He is so smart and seems to learn new words every day.  He is always making us laugh and we love having him around.  That was the hardest part of going back to school, leaving him here.  But it is wonderful to come home and see how excited he is.  He has such a wild imagination and he seems so much smarter then I’d ever expect a 2-year old to be.  I think we’ve finally got him sleeping in his toddler bed for naps as well as at night.  He hasn’t slept in his crib for a while, so that is good.  We are working on potty training him, which is coming along fairly well.  He loves using his potty, and even tells us sometimes he has to go.  I think if we worked a little harder at it he’d be trained fairly fast.

Lucas smiling while on his chair

Lucas with his cheesy grin sitting on his chair he got for his birthday.  He has a new shirt on that was part of a bunch of older clothes Great Grandma brought us that were stored at their house.

Lucas smiling while on the couch

Lucas was taking some pictures with the camera (one of his favorite things to do) and he wanted pictures of himself taken so this is what we got.

Lucas dressed up as superman

Lucas dressed up in his Superman costume from last Halloween.  It’s small on him but he has been in a Superman/superhero kick lately.  He watched The Incredibles, and since then he’s loved pretending to fly around as Superman.  I reminded him he had a costume, so he had to have it out and try it on.  He flew around in it for a while.  It was pretty cute!

Kryssi pregnant

A recent picture of Kryssi.  You can’t really see her pregnant belly at this angle but it is there, trust me.  Everything is growing at a normal rate and hopefully this baby will be more then the 6 lbs. Lucas was.

Mesa Falls

Lucas and I went to Mesa Falls yesterday along with my family.  We went and fed the fish, then hiked along the old railroad tracks, had a picnic, went to upper and lower falls, and then stopped and got ice cream on the way home.  Lucas loved every second of it.  He hasn’t been to Mesa Falls since last year, and he enjoyed a lot more this time.  He ran almost everywhere we went, and he loved throwing rocks.

Looking at the fish in the water. Throwing some bread to the fish. Lucas loved doing this. Sitting on a big rock.
View from our hike up the old railroad tracks. Looking into the old tunnel. It has started to collapse so they've closed it off.
Lucas loved climbing on the rocks and throwing rocks. Trying to get him to look for a picture. It's a lot harder then you'd think! Lucas ran and skipped almost everywhere we went. I don't know where his energy comes from.
The upper falls. Looking at the big waterfall with Grandma and Grandpa.
Probably his favorite part was this drinking fountain. It would shott pretty high in the air.

Fun at the Zoo

We had fun with Jason and Kay and the kids home the end of July/First of August.  I didn’t get many pictures but one day we went to the zoo and I remembered my camera!  Lucas hadn’t been to to the zoo since last summer, so he loved being there.  The Idaho Falls zoo isn’t the biggest, but it’s great for kids since there isn’t as much walking.

Petting the animals. Looking at some animals. Not sure what birds these are but they look pretty cool!
Lucas was more interested in the animals then in pictures. Looking at the monkeys. The kids loved the monkeys, until one jumped at Lucas and then he didn't like them anymore.
I'm not quite as big as a golden eagle. All three kids looking at the birds. In the petting zoo. I wasn't sure Lucas would go in but he did. He was a little scared at first, because they all gathered around him.
Relaxing while watching some TV.

Lucas really misses his cousins Oliver and Abby.  He asks for them all the time, especially when we go to Grandma’s house.  It’s too bad we don’t live closer to them, but it was great seeing them while we could.

2 Years Old!

Lucas turned 2 on July 14th.  It was a fun day, as we had a party that morning with some of his cousins and then he got to go to grandma and grandpa’s house and play.  For dinner that night my mom was cooking on the grill, she looked down, and noticed a skunks tail under the grill.  Turns out a skunk was under there the whole time she was cooking.  We had quite an interesting night trying to figure out how to get the skunk out without having him spray the court, and we eventually got rid of him but he did spray.  Lucas got a little scared but I think it is a birthday he’ll never forget!

Getting ready to open his first present The proud mommy! We got him this Elmo toy that makes noise and he thinks it is a phone.
Opening another present. The birthday boy with all his stash. We did all our shopping at garage sales, and it was amazing the type of deals we found. We probably only spent $15, but he got more then enough. The birthday sign Kryssi made
We decorated the whole house with balloons. Lucas' room, decorated with balloons. Notice his new bed. The elmo cupcakes we made. They turned out okay.
All the party guests by our Pin-the-Tail on Bullseye game. Opening presents at his party. His new baseball bat.

Fourth of July!

We celebrated the Fourth in Utah this year, and we had a blast!  We got to go to the Stadium of Fire, where Carrie Underwood was performing, and it was a lot of fun.  Lucas wasn’t even scared of the fireworks, like I was sure he would be.  I just covered his ears the whole time and he was fine.  His favorite part was the flyover after the National Anthem.  He loved those airplanes!

Lucas and Kennedy playing in the water He got his face all wet Getting Grandpa wet
Kennedy had a scooter and Lucas loved playing on it. Spraying himself He needed a new swimsuit and he wanted the Spongebob one.
Trying to get Kayden wet The torch the scouts lit at the Stadium of Fire. Enjoying the show
Carrie Underwood performing Minature Golf. Lucas was actually pretty good at it.

Long Time!

Well it has been a long time since the last post, mostly I’ve been pretty busy but also lately our internet has not been working very good.  But a lot’s happened since the last post.  We celebrated 4th of July in Utah, which I’ll post pictures later.  Lucas turned 2 on July 14th, which I’ll post pictures of that as well.

We can’t believe how much Lucas is changing.  He just seemed to grow up overnight.  He has become very independent, and wants to do everything by himself.  Anytime you try and help him, that’s what he’ll tell you, “by myself.”  I guess it’s good he is learning how to do things, but it sure tests our patience as parents.

He loves to repeat whatever you tell him, which is a lot better then him constantly saying “hmm” which was his typical response to everything you asked him before, which he still does some of that.  So his vocabulary is growing more and more each day, which makes it a lot nicer for us to communicate with him.

We got a toddler bed for him, and have been working on getting him sleeping there instead of his crib.  He’s actually done pretty well since his birthday, but he still usually gets up and plays multiple times before finally staying and falling asleep.  Last night he actually fell asleep in front of the door, so I had to push him a little to get his door open.

We are also trying to get him potty trained, and he is starting to use his potty more and more.  He basically just likes dumping it in the toilet and then flushing it, but at least he’s using his potty some.  I think if we worked a little more on it he’d get the hang of it pretty fast.

It seems like there are a lot more things he’s been doing lately that are all pretty cool, but I can’t think of them right now.  He’s just a really funny boy and we love having him in our lives.  Kryssi is getting pretty far along in the pregnancy, and getting more and more uncomfortable.  So far everything is going great, which we are happy for.  She actually went to the dentist a few weeks ago and had one of her wisdom teeth taken out, and she gets the other one out this week, along with a bunch of cavities filled.  She actually recovered really fast the first time so let’s hope this second time goes just as smoothly.

Its A…

GIRL!

We went to the doctor on Tuesday and had the ultrasound.  They said they can’t guarantee it’s a girl as good as with a boy, but she said she was positive it was a girl.  Kryssi wanted a girl so she is super excited.  I’d be happy either way but it will be nice to have a girl.  I must admit I’m more scared this time then with Lucas, since raising a girl puts me more out of my comfort zone, but I’m sure we’ll do fine as parents.

Below are some pictures from the ultrasound.  The first set is of the babies spine and then her foot (if you can see it).  The next set is of her hands.  She was being stubborn and was facing away from us the whole time, so we never got a profile view.  I don’t know if it’s a good sign that she’s already being stubborn!

Yellowstone

We went to Yellowstone the Saturday after Kendal’s graduation.  It wasn’t a very nice weather day, in the 30’s, rain and snow, but we still enjoyed it.  Lucas loved seeing the animals, even though the buffalo scared him somewhat.  He thought they were trying to get his food so Grandma told him that the buffaloes couldn’t have his food so we heard him say “No, no buffalo” the rest of the trip.

Kryssi and I went back home after dinner, since it was a long day for Lucas and for her.  The rest stayed and went to the Playmill.  Even with the bad weather it was still really fun.  Kryssi and I hadn’t been to Yellowstone in a few years, and it was Lucas’ first time, so it was nice to create more memories.  Maybe next time we’ll see a bear!

Buffalo on the road. We loved the babies the most. Up close with a buffalo. Close up of the baby.
Elk in the distance. Buffalo on the road. They got close to the van and scared Lucas. He thought they were trying to take his food. A waterfall.
It was cold and rainy most of the time but as long as we bundled up, we were fine! Mudpots Lucas and his buddy Kayden
Picture by the canyon Kennedy climbed up here so Lucas thought he needed to as well.
All of the kids in our usual picture spot. Family picture by the falls.
