Colorado Trip

We decided to take a trip to Colorado over Memorial day week. We stopped overnight in Wyoming and drove the next day to Denver, where we spent a few days exploring. We then headed to Colorado Springs for a few days and then stopped in Utah on the way home. It was a lot of driving but we had fun.

Jackson Hole family trip – day 3

Our last full day in Jackson, we went to the children’s museum they have in downtown, which we’ve been to before and the kids love. We also went to the rec center (I didn’t get pictures here, since I was swimming), which had a really nice indoor pool with some waterslides and kid play areas. The resort we stayed at had a pool but it was outside and it was too cold on this day to swim, so we let William choose what he wanted to do, since it was his birthday, and that’s what he wanted.

Doing some arts and crafts

Jackson Hole family trip – day 2

We decided to do the same tram ride I had done the day before. They had a family rate that wasn’t too bad of a deal, plus they had the gondola open the day we went, so we got to ride that as well. Here we are on the tram.
Top of the mountain! It was pretty chilly with the wind
Nice and windy!

Samuel didn’t like it because he was cold
Playing in the snow
Riding the gondola. It stopped a few times and we may have had a few scared kids
View from the top of the gondola ride
They had a few buildings up here with some chairs out front that the kids rested in
Enjoying the sun!
At the resort we stayed at, there were these little creatures that they called whistle pigs that were everywhere. The kids enjoyed trying to sneak up on them and chase them around

That night we went and saw the Bar J Wranglers. Lucas and McKinley really like the show, I ended up with William and Samuel running around outside most of the time.

Jackson Hole family trip – day 1

To celebrate my recent 6 year anniversary at work, and with the closeness of Jackson to us, 10up offered to extend my stay and have my family come up for a few extra days, so that was exciting. Kryssi drove up with the kids Friday and we stayed through Monday morning.

Moose!
We stopped at a candy store and let the kids pick out a few things
We were just in time to watch the shootout they do by the town square every night
Samuel wasn’t a fan and I ended up having to walk away with him, as the gun shots scared him
Antler arches!
Traditional Kotter/Fielding meal, sandwiches wherever we can find a table to eat

Twin Falls Trip Day 1

We decided at the last second to take a trip to Twin Falls over Memorial Day weekend. We have never been to see Shoshone Falls and have only been to Twin Falls once (for a wedding), so thought it would be fun.

Stopped at Hells Half Acre to walk around and check things out. It’s only a few minutes outside of Shelley but we’ve never stopped before

Checking out the lava rock

We went to a natural history museum in Twin Falls. It was free but it actually had quite a few things to do
Checking out some fossils
Comparing footprints

Trying out the microscope

SeaWorld

Our last full day in San Diego we went to SeaWorld. I think this was my favorite of all the places we went to. Had lots of animal exhibits, fun shows, some rides and kid play areas, so a little of everything. It was also the least crowded of the places we went, so I enjoyed that.

They have these pools right after you enter that you can touch any of the creatures.
SeaWorld was all decorated for Halloween
Checking out the dolphins
This was a mild ride that took you to the top of a tall tower, allowing you to see all around
Watching an otter get a snack

Playing in some water

Waiting for one of the shows we watched. We saw a dolphin show, an animal show and the orca show. We got pretty soaked in the dolphin show

This was as we left. Lucas was still pretty wet from one of the rides we went on

Legoland

Had to get a picture after breakfast, since no one was here yet
Getting ready to go inside

Sam and I went on this boat ride while the others went on a roller coaster
Looking at the Lego animals
They finally got through the line for the roller coaster
Getting to drive their own cars
William loved driving a car. There were only a few other kids at the time so it was great
Sam got a little tired and finally took a nap

Legoland Hotel

We decided to stay at the Legoland Hotel the night before we went to Legoland. It was a little pricey but not as bad as I thought it would be, and it meant we were literally right next to Legoland the next day (and got to go in 30 minutes early).

The hotel had legos everywhere to play with and had a castle play area in the lobby the kids loved. They have multiple shows you can participate in, which Lucas and McKinley did one of those. The kids loved the disco balls in the elevator, that would turn on and play dance music every time the elevator started. Also had a nice, kid-friendly breakfast buffet in the morning.

Mormon Battalion, Old Town, Beach, Temple

After going to the zoo on Tuesday, we had some more time in the day, so we went to the Mormon Battalion exhibit. It was really well done and the kids loved it.

Lucas got to dress up as a soldier
McKinley got to dress up as a laundry woman
Playing some games

Panning for gold

The next day we went back to Old Town San Diego and explored some of the old building they had there. The blacksmith shop was the best, as the people there were really good at doing demonstrations.

Learning about blacksmithing in Old Town

After lunch we headed to the beach. It wasn’t super warm but it was pretty nice and the kids loved playing.

Sam loved playing in the sand and mud

After the beach we stopped at the temple on our way to the Legoland hotel. The temple is right next to the freeway, so it’s impossible to miss. It’s a beautiful temple.
