School

Well I am no officially done with school!  It really hasn’t sunk in yet, as I’ve been working this whole semester so school wasn’t as big as a priority to me as in semesters past, so emotionally I’ve felt done with school for awhile.  But it does feel good to be officially done, and able to just work full-time now.

I’ve had multiple people ask what my actual degree is, so I guess I’ll get that out in the open, so to speak.  I have an AAS in Web Development Technologies.  According to Kryssi that just means I’m a nerd.  But I’m hoping to stay at the company I’m working at right now, but it depends on pay and benefits.  I really don’t like looking for jobs though, and if I do look elsewhere, it will probably have to be either Boise area or Salt Lake area, as there aren’t a ton of available jobs here.  But I guess we’ll see.

We are going down to Lagoon tomorrow for a work party.  It is looking like it should be high 70’s so it should be a pretty fun time.  Lucas is real excited, but we’ll see if he actually goes on any of the rides, since the last ride he went on (at Bear World) was quite the experience.  But hopefully we remember our camera so we can get some pictures up of that.

Wedding

Below are some pictures that were from Jared and Kara’s wedding, which was a couple weeks ago.  It was a fairly nice day, a little chilly but not too bad.  It was, like always, a great experience to be in the temple, especially for such a great thing like sealing two people together forever.  It was almost exactly a year from when we had been sealed together as a family, in the same temple, so it was nice to be back in the temple at that time.

New Pics

Here is a picture of McKinley at 6-months.  She is now 7 months old, so this is a little outdated but we’ve been having camera issues so we don’t have a whole lot of recent pictures.

Lucas loves playing with his sister but not as much as she loves it.  Her face just lights up every time she sees him and you can tell she just wants to get done and run around with him.

All dressed up, ready to go to church.

6 Months Old! (And other news)

I’m not currently at home so I don’t have any new pictures but I figured I’d write a quick update. McKinley is officially six months old now! It is amazing how time flies. She is healthy and doing well. I don’t remember exact numbers but she was around the 10th percentile on weight, so nothing amazing but better then Lucas has ever been. She is getting more vocal and loves to laugh. She will still roll onto her belly the second you lay her down on the floor, but she enjoys it more now and doesn’t get upset as fast. She sleeps great (most times) and lately she has even been falling asleep on her own, which is great, since we struggled with Lucas sleeping good until he was almost a year old.

Speaking of Lucas, he continues to amaze us with how smart he is. He remembers things that I don’t even remember myself. And I think we can say he is pretty much potty trained now, which is great! It really wasn’t that difficult of a thing to accomplish (which is easy for me to say since I’m at work and school all day) but he has never had any real issue with using bathrooms in other places, like at stores or at church, so that is great. He is excited for it to start warming up so he can play outside.

Kryssi is continuing to be pretty crafty, making bows and now even making bibs.  She is getting better and better at it and enjoys it a lot.  I’m in the process of building her an online store so she can try and sell her wares, and hopefully that will be done soon.

I still really like my job and hope I can stay on once I’m done with school.  I know they really want me to stay, but it depends on salary.  I built a subsite for a March Madness promo one of our clients wanted to run, and they landed a $20,000 client out of it, so that was pretty cool.  It’s nice to see my work actually getting used, instead of just my own personal sites I’ve made in the past that get very few visitors.

But life is good at the Kotter house and we are hoping it finally starts looking like Spring around here.  We are all a little stir-crazy after being cooped up all winter.

Finally Some New Pics!

Well I guess I need to teach Kryssi a little bit more so she can upload some pictures.  But here are a couple recent ones of the kids.

McKinley is getting bigger and bigger every day.  Kryssi mentioned how she now rolls from her back to her stomach, and tonight she rolled back over the other way!  She seems to grow and change every day.  In this picture she is wearing one of the bibs Kryssi just made.

Work for me is going really good.  I was hired in the marketing department for a company called Computer Lab Solutions.  Well probably a week after starting, they decided they were breaking off into their own company, Star Moose Creative (I had no involvement with the name).  So as far as looks go, nothing changed.  This just allows us to go and get other clients, so it means there will be a lot of potential for growth and success.  So I’m pretty excited I was able to get the opportunity right at the start, and hopefully I can stay there as it grows.  I’m currently building the site for the new company, so check it out at www.starmoose.com and let me know what you think, especially if something doesn’t work right, as I’m currently looking for any bugs.

But Kryssi has been getting very crafty lately, which if you know her at all, it is pretty unusual.  She started making some bows with one of her friends months ago, and she has gotten back into that, with plans for selling these online, probably just on Etsy to start.  But she has also made some bibs, burp rags, and car seat covers, so she is getting really good at making crafts.  Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time to get her set up online, but as soon as I do, I’ll post a link here so you can check it out!

Progress!

Well, our lives have been crazy and as fun as ever! Yesterday McKinley learned how to roll over onto her belly. Now she has been doing it constantly and loves it. She has yet to learn how to roll back over so she gets a little upset but she is getting the hang of it. Lucas is as funny as ever. He’s getting his two year molars in on the bottom so now it’s just waiting for the top ones to come on. He loves telling me and showing me his new teeth.

I have been making hair bows made out of ribbon. I have made quite a few and plan on trying to sell them. I’m not sure if anyone would want to buy any but they are really cute and alot of fun to make. I have also made a car seat cover for a friend of mine that’s about to have her baby. It was alot of fun to make and I had to have help with it but since it was my second one I think that I could make one on my own now. I am also in the process of making a baby bib. It is pretty easy to make and I am excited to see what the outcome will look like. If I can do those well, I plan on selling those as well.

Darin is doing well. He’s still going to school and I think he’s enjoying it still. Work is going really well for him also. He enjoys what he does and he is really good at it as well. I can’t wait for when Darin graduates in May. That will be an exciting day for all of us. He’s a great and wonderful dad and a great provider for our family. I and the kids love him so much. We’re so lucky to have him in our lives. Well, that’s all I have for now but hopefully I’ll update again really soon!

I’m going to post pictures as soon as I can figure out how to!!

I hope I can do this right…

As Darin said in our earlier post, I have been put on duty of updating the blog. I think it will be fun to do but I hope I can do it right. I’m not very good at this stuff but I think I can catch on pretty quickly. I have gotten used to being at home with the kids everyday but like Darin said I really am happy when he gets home. I get really excited when any adult comes over. It’s nice to have a real conversation with someone.

I wanted to say that I am so happy for my brother Seth and his wife Lindsey. They just adopted a little baby boy. It was short notice and everything went well and we are so happy for them. I have found out alot of my friends are pregnant and am so happy for them. Can’t believe Kendal has his papers in and should get his call in the next week or so. It will be very different without him. Well I will keep you all posted with updates!!! Bye for now!

Update

I’ve been meaning to put some posts up since Christmas and just have not had the time to get it done.  I recently (and recently I mean like a month ago) decided to start looking for a job in web design as this is my last semester and I wanted to have a job by the time I graduated.  Well I didn’t think I would get one so soon, but I submitted my resume to a job around Christmas time and immediately heard back from them for an interview.  Well I ended up getting the job, which was good, but now with that and school, I have no time on my hands.  So I have shown Kryssi how to update the blog, so hopefully she will start putting some posts up.

But we have been doing good.  We had a a really good Christmas.  We are blessed to have such great families and we are grateful to be near them, especially around the holidays.  It was nice to have a break from school, but I have now been back in for 3 weeks.  Like I mentioned, this is my last semester.  I’m done May 6th, and after that I’ll have to decide whether I stay at my current job, or try and find something else.  They’ve already told me they’ll up me to full time hours, increase my pay, and give me benefits once I’m out of school, but we’ll have to see how much of a pay increase it is and whether I look for something else.

McKinley keeps growing and she seems to change by the day.  She had her 4 month check-up today and weighs 12 lbs. and is 24 inches long.  So she has slowed down somewhat on her growth, but is still outdoing Lucas.  She loves to smile and laugh and her new favorite thing is spitting.  She soaks her clothes all the time by spitting, but it is pretty cute.

Lucas is still as crazy as ever.  He amazes me all the time by how smart he is.  He eats a whole lot better then he ever used to, which is good.  He won’t take naps anymore, which I’m sure is a pain for Kryssi.  He loves his little sister and is constantly touching her and giving her kisses.

I’ll let Kryssi update you on anything she wants, but she is doing good as well.  She’s adjusted to being home most of the day without me fine, but I think she’s always glad to see me come home so I can play with Lucas (he never runs out of energy it seems).  We are so blessed as a family and I constantly have to count my blessings for having such wonderful kids and such a wonderful wife.

Christmas Time

Lucas with Santa

Lucas got to see Santa Claus at Toys-R-Us.  He wasn’t too sure about him but not very scared.  The next week he saw him at the mall and walked right up to him and sat on his lap, leaving Kryssi and I in the dust!

McKinley smiling

Smiley girl!

Lucas smiling

Lucas wanted me to take a picture of him after McKinley got her picture taken.  He always has the corniest smile.

Mom and McKinley

Kryssi was also jealous of the picture taking so I had to take one of her.

Snowflakes

Our homemade snowflakes.  I’ve always just folded paper up and made random cuts, which is fun but doesn’t always make the nicest looking flakes.  Well I found this blog post and it has templates you print off and fold, then just cut on the lines.  It was a fun family activity and they look really cool.
