Primary program

Our primary program was this past Sunday and Lucas did such a great job.  He was one of the first to do his part, and he did awesome.  The only problem was one boy was out of order, which confused Lucas some, but he still got up there and did his part great.  Our primary in our new ward is probably double what our last ward was, so our program ran about 30 minutes over time, but it was a really good program.

First day of school 2013

Lucas started kindergarten today!  Makes me feel old but I guess that’s okay.  He gets to go to a brand new school, which we got to go tour last week, so that’s pretty awesome.  He goes in the morning, from 8 until 11 and his teacher (Mrs. Moeller) is in our ward, so he has already met her and she’s really nice.  But I think he’ll really enjoy school and he’ll learn a lot.  I just hope he can learn to listen to his teacher and not talk all during class (which I’m sure he’ll do fine at but he can definitely talk a mile a minute).

Yes, that is a carton of fries with a fry mustache on his shirt. We found the shirt at Kohls, on clearance, and he loved it.

Emergency care on a Sunday night (updated)

Update 08/12/13 11:41 AM: After taking the head wrap and bandage off this morning, he has 11 staples. Here is a picture of it, for those interested. I don’t think it looks that bad but for those that are squeamish, figured I wouldn’t post the picture directly here.

So we had a fun night.  Lucas took a tumble off of a chair, while McKinley and him were downstairs ‘cleaning’.  Kryssi and I rushed downstairs, saw blood all over him, and after a quick look at his wound, knew we needed to go to the doctor.

He ended up getting quite a few staples (not sure exact count, will have to look tomorrow when we take the bandage off) and he wasn’t happy to get staples, as he was told a story about how Kendal had to get staples when he was younger, and so he was really scared about that.  But he did great, the worst was the shots to numb it up.  Once it was numb, he was fine.

But we get to go back in a week to remove the staples, and Lucas will probably have a nice scar for the rest of his life.  On the bright side, I think this served as a good object lesson on why you shouldn’t climb on chairs, as I’ve been telling the kids not to climb on furniture multiple times.

At RediCare, waiting for the doctor to come fix him up
After getting home. Got a cool blue headband (thinks he’s a ninja now)

Lucas Turns 4!

Lucas turned 4 on July 14th.  We can’t believe we have a four-year old!  He had a pirate themed party with some of his friends the day before, and then we did a family party actually on his birthday.  He got more presents then he needed, but his favorite was the bike we got him.  We looked for awhile and were debating on if we should get him a bike, then we ran across a balance bike on craigslist that was pretty cheap.  We weren’t sure he’d like it since it’s different then a normal bike, but so far he’s loved it and it’s really helping him learn to balance on his own.

Halloween 2011

We had a really nice Halloween this year, filled with lots of candy and fun!  We went to multiple events, probably more then we should have.  My (former) school had a trunk-or-treat Thursday night we went to, that was better then I was anticipating, though it was freezing.  On Friday, Kryssi and my mom took the kids to trick-or-treat street, which was really crowded and probably not worth it.  Then on Saturday we went to Toys-r-us for their little Halloween event, and that night we went to Boo at the Zoo, which was a mistake, as it was absolutely packed.

Then on Monday, we went to a trunk-or-treat at our ward as well as my parent’s ward.  Needless to say, we got plenty of candy.  We found a pirate costume that was really cheap that we got Lucas and he wore that to a few of the events.  He then found his monkey costume from last year that he wanted to wear so he did to the zoo.  Then on Halloween he wanted to combine the two, so he was a monkey pirate.  We found McKinley a cupcake costume that was 75% off at Old Navy, so that’s what she got to be.  She loved seeing all the candy when we got home and dumped it out.  She immediately started picking up as much as she could, especially of the suckers.
