Family fun day

After fishing, we stopped by Snake River’s Landing, as they were having a Family Fun Day. They were doing some family bike rides which we were going to participate in, but had no way to get all our bikes over there.

But they had a teddy bear clinic, where the kids got to choose a teddy bear, give him/her a name, then go through multiple stations, helping the teddy bear after he got in a bike wreck.

They also had lots of little games you could play to get prizes, free lunch, bouncy inflatables, and a bull ride.

McKinley really wanted to ride the bull, so we waited in line for quite a bit and then I think she was a little scared, but had fun anyway.

Father and sons

Lucas and I went to the Father and Sons campout a few weeks ago which was pretty fun. We’ve never had a ward that has actually done one that we were aware of, so it was nice to finally get to be part of one, as I have lots of good memories growing up going to Father and Sons campouts.

Lucas and I went on a couple hikes, played catch, had s’mores, saw a moose, and Lucas got to play with some of his friends. Our bishop gave a little thought at the end of the night around a big fire, which was a great way to end the day.

McKinley’s Graduation

So I’m not a huge fan of all the new “graduations” they have now, like preschool, kindergarten, middle school. To much celebrating mediocrity for me, but the kids love them, which is what matters. So McKinley had her preschool graduation a week or so ago, even though she misses the cut-off date for kindergarten by a few weeks next year, so she’ll be in preschool again next year.

They did quite a few songs and each kid had a nursery rhyme they had memorized and had to repeat with a few other kids. McKinley did really well.

Flag football

Lucas decided he wanted to play flag football this spring, so we’re about at the end of the season now. He’s done a really good job, though there’s been some tough times for his parents. We had to complain to his coach at one point because he went a couple games in a row not playing much, which at this age, we didn’t think was fair.

But I’ve worked with him on listening and paying more attention when he’s on the sideline and he’s done really well. The last couple games he’s played a lot and done an awesome job blocking, tackling, and even getting a few chances to run with the ball.

Not sure if he’ll stick with football as he gets older, and not sure I want him to, with all the head injuries football brings, but I think he could be really good if he ever gets motivated to try his hardest. But it’s fun to watch him and fun to see how excited he gets when he makes a good play.
