We went to Mesa Falls for part of Memorial Day this year. The weather was hit or miss while we were there, so we ended up not going to the upper falls, just the lower, as it started to rain. The kids had a good time though and we love being outdoors.
We love going to see all the flags in the Field of HonorIf you look closely, can see a couple old airplanes in the background that flew over us a few timesFeeding the fishClassic picture on the rock right outside the tunnel under the roadPretty viewClimbing on some rocksWilliam is showing his Curious George fruit snack here. He didn’t want to eat them because they looked like GeorgeChecking out the falls
Lucas did really well at his piano recital. He said he was pretty nervous to have to announce what songs he was playing, but not nervous to actually play. We need to find him a new piano teacher in Shelley so he can keep progressing.
We spent plenty of time in the pool at our houseEating some dinner (after swimming) at the tiki bar.Riding the carouselRiding the carouselMore swimming funSitting on the lawn of the Jacob Hamblin home. William didn’t want to be happy for the picture
Beautiful view of the city from atop one of the rocks we climbedTaking a view of the cityInside somewhat of a cave.We hiked up to this small archWilliam liked this little cave, he thought it was just his size
Beautiful temple! Sun positioned right behind the steepleOn the temple stepsI really liked the roots on this treeFinding pecans. Lucas loved looking all over the lawn for these and we brought a decent amount home we found.
One day we made our way to what’s called the Glitter Pit. It took us a bit to get there, we ended up at a closed road at one point, then down a long stretch of a dirt/rock road that I thought might cause some flat tires, but eventually we made it.
It used to be a mineral mine but now it’s just some piles of rocks and an open shaft you can go in and mine your own gypsum. The kids loved it and I think they each ended up with multiple bags of gypsum to take home.
Walking up to the pit
By the main wall of gypsumUsing a screw driver to try and get some gypsum. Most people bring hammers and chisels but this is all we had.
We had to cross into Arizona to get there, so that was pretty cool
