Carving pumpkins

We carved our pumpkins this past Monday for FHE.  The kids were really looking forward to it, though Lucas didn’t want to have to clean out the pumpkin guts.  He would touch one seed and then have to go wash his hands.  William was already asleep, so he didn’t get to participate, but maybe next year.  But they turned out really nice.

McKinley wasn't sure about cleaning out the pumpkin but once she tried it, she was a good helper.

Halloween 2011

We had a really nice Halloween this year, filled with lots of candy and fun!  We went to multiple events, probably more then we should have.  My (former) school had a trunk-or-treat Thursday night we went to, that was better then I was anticipating, though it was freezing.  On Friday, Kryssi and my mom took the kids to trick-or-treat street, which was really crowded and probably not worth it.  Then on Saturday we went to Toys-r-us for their little Halloween event, and that night we went to Boo at the Zoo, which was a mistake, as it was absolutely packed.

Then on Monday, we went to a trunk-or-treat at our ward as well as my parent’s ward.  Needless to say, we got plenty of candy.  We found a pirate costume that was really cheap that we got Lucas and he wore that to a few of the events.  He then found his monkey costume from last year that he wanted to wear so he did to the zoo.  Then on Halloween he wanted to combine the two, so he was a monkey pirate.  We found McKinley a cupcake costume that was 75% off at Old Navy, so that’s what she got to be.  She loved seeing all the candy when we got home and dumped it out.  She immediately started picking up as much as she could, especially of the suckers.

Thanksgiving!

This year for Thanksgiving we were in Utah with family.  The weather wasn’t looking good here in Idaho for Tuesday and it wasn’t looking very good in Utah on Wednesday, so we thought we might be stuck here until Thursday morning.  But luckily we were able to get off on Monday afternoon and beat all the bad weather.

We had a great time playing games, eating lots of food, playing BINGO, going shopping, watching sports, etc.  Lucas slept in our room with us on the floor and he did great.  He only took a nap once but he slept great at night.  McKinley slept in a portable crib just outside our door.  She seemed to sleep most of the time we were there.  If someone wasn’t holding her, we just laid her on the floor and she slept happily.

McKinley spent a lot of time just sleeping on the floor. Getting ready for Thanksgiving lunch. The table all set up.
Getting the food ready. Washing the dishes after eating. Aunt Kaitlin holding McKinley.
Getting ready to play BINGO! Lucas didn't really understand the game but he liked the prizes. Playing with his flashlight.
Kryssi's BINGO prizes. Kayden getting a turn to hold the baby. Uncle Kendal with McKinley.

Halloween

We had a fun Halloween this year. Lucas got a cool monkey costume that Jill found for him and we actually found a smaller monkey costume for McKinley to wear. We ended up going to 4 different events, so Lucas ended up with a lot of candy. But he seemed to really enjoy it this year and didn’t get scared too many times! It was also really nice weather so that made it even better.

Lucas dressed up as a monkey for Halloween. McKinley was a monkey, too!. Our cute little monkeys.
Kryssi dressed up as a witch McKinley enjoying the trick-or-treating. Waiting in line at the Trick-or-Treat Street.
There was a bunch of RV's decorated and people handing out candy in front of each. On the steps at Grandma's house. More trick-or-treating.

Pumpkins!

Well we carved our pumpkins for FHE this past Monday.  I don’t know if they’ll last till Halloween, but we couldn’t wait!  We got a pumpkin for  each of us from my parents house.  They had a pretty good crop of pumpkins this year and Lucas loved picking them from the garden.

I did my own plus Lucas’ and Kryssi did hers and McKinley’s.  Kryssi’s first one didn’t work out, part of it broke off, so she had to throw that one away.  But the three we were successful with turned out really good, in my opinion.  Lucas wasn’t sure about it at first because I told him he could help me get the pumpkin guts out.  But once he saw the “guts” were just seeds and other slimey stuff, he helped out and liked it a lot.  But he got bored with the actual carving part and didn’t stay around until I light the candles.

On Kryssi's first pumpkin, she made the top hole way to small. She could barely get her hand in to clean it out! Getting all the seeds out. Our three finished pumpkins.

Fourth of July!

We celebrated the Fourth in Utah this year, and we had a blast!  We got to go to the Stadium of Fire, where Carrie Underwood was performing, and it was a lot of fun.  Lucas wasn’t even scared of the fireworks, like I was sure he would be.  I just covered his ears the whole time and he was fine.  His favorite part was the flyover after the National Anthem.  He loved those airplanes!

Lucas and Kennedy playing in the water He got his face all wet Getting Grandpa wet
Kennedy had a scooter and Lucas loved playing on it. Spraying himself He needed a new swimsuit and he wanted the Spongebob one.

Christmas 2009

We had a wonderful Christmas!  We are very blessed to be a family and we were even more blessed with all the stuff we got.  We got way to much but Lucas had a great time, which is what was most important to us.  He loved opening presents, and he was really good at it.  He would get distracted easily but any time we gave him another present to open, he opened it.  It was a great time!

Lucas looking at the blocks he got from Santa! Playing with the trucks that came with his blocks. Grandma and Lucas looking at his new coloring book. Kryssi getting ready to look in her stocking!
