Flying kites
We didn’t do anything too fancy for Labor Day, but we did go the park, have a picnic, and tried to fly kites. The kids have wanted to all summer and every time I remember, it ends up not being windy enough (which is pretty rare around here). It was pretty windy on Labor Day so we got the kites up for a bit, but as usual, the wind died down pretty quickly after we started.

Christmas break fun

Christmas
Didn’t actually take a ton of pictures on Christmas this year, and the ones I did take aren’t the best quality as the lighting was low, but I prefer to enjoy the moment instead of trying to constantly take pictures (at least that’s my excuse).
Lucas and McKinley decided they wanted to sleep in the same room the night before, so we moved Lucas’ mattress to McKinley’s floor. They woke up at like 4:30, and I told them they had to go back to bed for at least a few hours. McKinley did just fine, but Lucas kept getting up every 20 minutes or so, wanting to open presents. He finally fell asleep at around 6 and then they didn’t get up until a little after 7:30, which was nice.

Christmas Eve

Christmas play
Lucas’ class got to do a Christmas play this year. Lucas got the part of Papa Snowman, with 5 different lines to memorize. He had no trouble doing that and was super excited for the play.
I was worried he might be scared but if he was, he didn’t act like it. He did great with his lines and great singing the songs.

This last song I really liked and think it’s really good to remember this time of year:
