February Fun

Author Gary Hogg visited Lucas’ school a few weeks back (something he does every year). He holds an assembly and then does a writing workshop with the 4th graders. He chooses a few of his favorite stories that were written during this workshop (kids have 5 minutes to write a short story) and he holds a family presentation that night to read those and discuss some other things about writing.

Lucas’ story was chosen, so we ran from his basketball practice to the presentation. He was pretty proud of being able to go up front and have his story read, and he did a great job on it.

Christmas decorating

We normally wait until the Monday after Thanksgiving (our FHE activity) to get out all our Christmas decorations and put them up, especially the tree. William was anxious this year to do it sooner, so we ended up decorating the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Sam wanted to help, though it was mostly him wanting to climb on the stool

Sam definitely is a lot more handsy than our other kids have been. Everyday I’m putting ornaments back on the tree

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year, we stayed here in Shelley. We had Thanksgiving dinner with Kryssi’s family. They invited a lot of her dad’s side (some people that I didn’t even know) and so we ate at the church, since we had a group of about 50. It was a good meal, though always chaotic with that many people.

We didn’t do much else during the break. Went and saw Coco as a family on Friday, which has always been a tradition since I was younger, to go see a movie over the Thanksgiving holiday. But other then that and a little shopping, we mostly were at home, enjoying spending time with each other.
