Lucas is 5

Lucas turned 5 (!!! that make anyone else feel old?  No, just me) on Sunday.  We moved into our new house Friday, he had a birthday party with his friends on Saturday, then we celebrated his birthday on Sunday.  So a pretty busy couple of days.

He loves Skylanders, so I put together a Skylander themed party on Saturday (no pictures from that as I couldn’t find our camera at the time).  We then opened presents Sunday, went to our old ward one last time, so he could get sung to there, and then had a family gathering that night, where we had cake, ice cream and more presents.

Our house was (and still is) in quite a mess from just moving, but it was nice to have people over to celebrate and get to show them the new place.  We didn’t have time to make a cake, and I was just going to buy one, but my mom put together some lego cakes and just a normal round cake, which was great.

All in all, even though it was a super busy few days, things turned out great.  I’m so lucky to have Lucas as my son.  I am constantly amazed by what he says and does and he is such a great example to his younger siblings.  We love you Lucas!

Water, guns, and fun!

Over the last weekend, we had some fun with family.  It was over 90 each day, so the kids spent as much time as they could playing in the water.  Great Grandpa brought his BB gun and Lucas was super excited to be able to shoot that.

Mesa Falls

Lucas and I went to Mesa Falls yesterday along with my family.  We went and fed the fish, then hiked along the old railroad tracks, had a picnic, went to upper and lower falls, and then stopped and got ice cream on the way home.  Lucas loved every second of it.  He hasn’t been to Mesa Falls since last year, and he enjoyed a lot more this time.  He ran almost everywhere we went, and he loved throwing rocks.

Looking at the fish in the water. Throwing some bread to the fish. Lucas loved doing this. Sitting on a big rock.
View from our hike up the old railroad tracks. Looking into the old tunnel. It has started to collapse so they've closed it off.
Lucas loved climbing on the rocks and throwing rocks. Trying to get him to look for a picture. It's a lot harder then you'd think! Lucas ran and skipped almost everywhere we went. I don't know where his energy comes from.
The upper falls. Looking at the big waterfall with Grandma and Grandpa.
Probably his favorite part was this drinking fountain. It would shott pretty high in the air.
