Disneyland Trip: Day 1 (Travel)

We decided, now that we were in a school district that had a spud harvest, that we should take a vacation sometime during that 2 week break. I initially was going to keep it simpler but we decided to try our luck with a trip to Disneyland. The kids were super excited to go there and probably even more excited to be able to ride a plane.

We decided to fly out of SLC instead of Idaho Falls, as it was a lot cheaper, so we started out with an early morning drive there, they our flight got delayed so we had a nice long wait in the airport. We finally got to LAX, got our baggage, requested a car (we used Lyft for all our transportation instead of renting a car, as it was a lot cheaper and I didn’t really want to have to drive in LA-area) and then ended up stuck in traffic for about an 1.5 hours, to drive the 35 miles to our hotel.

Corn Maze

McKinley wanted to go to the corn maze for her birthday, so that’s were we headed that night. The corn maze closest to us has all kinds of stuff to do: a mini zip line, multiple inflatables, a “train” to ride, slides, sandbox, and the corn mazes themselves.

Fair

We haven’t gone to the East Idaho State Fair the last few years, as I really don’t like the crowds, but we decided to brave it this year. The kids loved seeing all the animals, they loved asking us to buy them everything they saw, and they enjoyed an animal show we got to watch (with sea lions).

Crowds weren’t too bad until about dinner time, but we lucked out and got ourselves a table, which made things a lot easier.

Straw Maze

For FHE a couple weeks ago we decided to go the a straw maze. We did a corn maze last year and it was really fun but this straw maze was closer to us so we decided to try it out. The maze was actually pretty hard and we ended up having to get help at one point. The kids favorite part though were some big tubes set up as slides on top of a bunch of hay bales, as well as an area they could jump off a ledge into a pull of hay. I was worried they would break some bones but they loved it.
